Almost nothing has a neat beginning and end. Rather, most things either flow gracefully into one another or have abrupt, out-of-place beginnings and endings. The latter was the inspiration for the main idea behind this three-movement guitar duo — to illustrate a feeling of being dropped into something and then just as suddenly taken out again.

This feeling is one that shows up at different times in most people's lives, perhaps connected to the fundamental impermanence of the human condition. For many, it was also one of the defining feelings of the year 2020, the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
