+/− is a minimalist piece exploring how a musical idea can be created, transformed and destroyed by the simple addition, subtraction, augmentation, and diminution of notes and phrases.

Certain melodic and rhythmic elements throughout the piece are based on motives from Carl Nielsen's Suite for String Orchestra, Op. 1.
