Ripples is the second of the three pieces Eli Tausen á Lava wrote during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Compared to its predecessor, Ripples has an immediate warmth that welcomes the listener into its slowly evolving atmosphere.

The overlapping polymetric patterns of the piece leave the composer with the impression of running water, the surf of the ocean or ripples in a pond — hence the title Ripples.
